Kodiak Alaska Sea Duck Hunting

We are a beautiful, remote, full service wilderness lodge located on Raspberry Island between Kodiak and Afognak Islands. We feature trophy collection hunts for Harlequin, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Long-tailed Ducks, and White-Winged, Surf, and Black Scoters with other species including Mallard, Wigeon, Gadwall, Bufflehead, Merganser, and Scaup within 15 minutes away by boat.  We feature fair chase hunts; utilizing our one and two person layout boats, 28’ custom built offshore duck boat, species specific decoys, and flexible beach blinds to target these birds in their natural wintering grounds all around our lodge. We feature maximal opportunity, low harvest number trophy collection hunts, focusing on specific birds you choose to take home for taxidermy.

While our season runs from mid October to mid January, we typically focus our duck hunts in December, pursuing abundant birds that winter in the protected bays, channels and sloughs found among the islands. Most migrant ducks have left Alaska by mid-October, but the remaining ducks, especially sea ducks, acquire bright new plumage that is spectacular by late November.  This is a tremendous time of year to collect a variety of sought after birds in their finest winter plumage; all the while hunting in remote Kodiak, Alaska.

My family started hosting hunters from this property in the mid-1980s, and I have been hunting these mountains, shores, and the surrounding country since I was young. We know this country, the birds, and the weather, and feel we are best prepared to host you on a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable hunt.

Our lodge is well appointed and comfortable, complete with large open kitchen, spacious dining room, and comfortable lounge. Hunters enjoy heated, private guest cabins with complete bathroom, flannel sheets, and down comforters, as well as our outdoor jetted hot tub and wood fired banya (sauna). Hearty, full, home cooked meals are crafted each day and served family style, focusing on the fuel your body needs to hunt this area.

As well as comfort, we offer the flexibility to hunt a different area each day. Our remote location ensures travel time is minimal and first light hunting in a new place every day is our specialty. One of our favorite hunts is a short walk from the lodge, right down the beach.

Thank you for sharing your home, your way of life, and your hospitality. I felt not so much a client as an old friend. I had a wonderful time visiting and spending time with everyone. The week went by way to fast. This was my second hunt with Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge, both successful in game harvested and wonderful experiences. The hearty meals and warm, dry cabins give inspiration to hike the hills and brave the weather. In five days of hunting I had rain, fog, snow, high winds, sunshine, flat calm water, and seas too rough to venture forth. An experience I will never forget. I hope to visit again my friends on Raspberry Island. ~ Tim V. Alaska
